Welcome
Welcome to Smart Dictate. Instead of typing your notes after a session, just talk — Smart Dictate records you, transcribes the audio, and pulls out the key clinical points automatically. Let us walk through a full recording.
Optional client information
Before you start, you can optionally expand Client Information and add the client name, age, or pronouns. These details are used when the key points are generated.
Start recording — watch the level bar
Click Start to begin. The most important thing on this screen is the audio level bar: when you speak, it moves. If it is not moving, your microphone is not being heard — for example when another app like Zoom has taken over the mic — and the page will warn you about the silence.
Dictate your note
Now simply dictate your session note in natural language, and a session can run for up to two hours. You can pause at any time during the interview and recording, and then resume.
Stop and process
When you are done, click Stop. Your audio is uploaded, transcribed, and distilled into key clinical points. If anything fails along the way, your audio and transcript are safe and you can simply retry.
Your recording appears in the list
The finished recording shows up at the top of Your Recordings, with a preview of its key points. Click the row to open it.
Key points and full transcript
The editor has two tabs: Key Points — the distilled clinical notes — and Full Transcript, the complete word-for-word transcription. Both are editable, and saving shows a clear confirmation.
Send it to Smart Draft
From here, one click exports your key points — or the full transcript — straight into Smart Draft, where it becomes the input for a full AI-generated report. You can also copy the text or download it as a Word document.
Find any recording later
Finally, the search box above the list searches your recordings by file name, transcript, and key points — so any past session is a few keystrokes away.
Wrap up
That is Smart Dictate: press Start, talk, press Stop — and your session becomes structured clinical notes, ready for a report. Keep an eye on that level bar, and happy dictating.
